Lumos Insurance Hires Tom Kenny as Managing Director for Global Retirement Solutions

Lumos Insurance™ has announced the appointment of Tom Kenny as Managing Director and Senior Vice President of Global Retirement and Protection. As a subsidiary of Hoplon Capital, Lumos Insurance aims to enhance its position in the retirement and senior market sectors. Kenny, with over two decades of experience in financial services from regions including the UK, the US, and Australia, specializes in retirement income solutions, long-term care products, and actuarial product development.

Kenny's previous tenure at Just Group plc, a prominent UK-based retirement insurer, saw him as the Group Property & Credit Risk Director. He has been pivotal in advancing initiatives, such as Solvency UK reforms, creating new investment structures, and developing credit-rating frameworks. His extensive experience includes roles in pricing, product development, and underwriting, which are crucial to retirement insurance products.

Earlier in his career, Kenny established the bulk purchase annuity pricing team for Partnership Assurance and worked with top firms like MetLife, Munich Re, Asteron Life, and Willis Towers Watson. This experience underscores his deep understanding of risk management and compliance within the insurance domain.

Lumos Insurance, known for its credit protection offerings, is expanding its portfolio to include retirement and protection solutions, responding to the increased industry demand. Vince Bodnar, President of Lumos Insurance, highlighted the company's expertise in underwriting and the planned strategic expansion into new segments under Kenny’s direction.

Kenny, an active participant in the UK’s retirement and care market policies, chairs the IFoA Social Care Working Party. He has made significant contributions to public discussions on social care financing and authored research on relevant topics.
