Four Arrested in Louisiana Insurance Fraud Case Involving $4 Million Claim

In a recent development from Monroe, Louisiana, four residents from New Iberia have been detained over allegations of insurance fraud linked to an incident involving a garbage truck. The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit has confirmed the arrests of Rayshonte Oppenheimer, Briannie Butler, Passion Keal, and Quandalyn Bernard.

According to investigators, these individuals allegedly provided false information during the insurance claim process related to a 2025 accident with a Pelican Waste & Debris truck. The fraudulent claims, if successful, might have led to an insurance payout of approximately $4 million.

Arrest warrants were issued at the end of April and early May, and the suspects are currently in custody at the Iberia Parish jail, having either been arrested or voluntarily surrendered. The Louisiana State Police emphasize the seriousness of insurance fraud as a felony offense, noting its impact on rising costs for both businesses and consumers. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or incidents of possible fraud through the LA-SAFE website or via the State Police Suspicious Activity Hotline.
