New York Life Launches NYLI Investment Grade CLO ETF
New York Life Investment Management has launched an actively managed exchange-traded fund, the NYLI Investment Grade CLO ETF (NYSE:CLOO), designed to provide access to investment-grade collateralized loan obligations. The CLOO fund strategy emphasizes detailed research to assess risk-adjusted returns in CLO securities. Managed by New York Life Investment Management LLC, with NYL Investors LLC as the subadvisor, the fund commits at least 80% of its portfolio to investment-grade securities.
Portfolio managers Arthur Torrey and Christian Saltaformaggio, who have been employing structured credit investment frameworks since 2010, lead CLOO. The fund's strategy seeks to generate income while preserving capital, aligning with investor interests amidst current economic uncertainties.
"Our aim with CLOO is to provide a high-quality, actively managed product that capitalizes on the income potential and structural safeguards of CLOs," stated Kirk Lehneis, Head of U.S. Retail at New York Life Investment Management. The managers use a dual investment approach, combining macroeconomic evaluation with thorough analysis of individual CLO structures and managers to identify opportunities and manage potential risks.
Art Torrey, Managing Director and Head of Public Credit Portfolio Management and Trading, highlighted the importance of selectivity: "Understanding the nuances of CLO structures, their management, and underlying loans allows us to construct a portfolio expected to perform well across diverse market conditions."
New York Life Investment Management stands as a prominent entity in global asset management, overseeing approximately $807 billion in assets as of March 2026. The firm ranks among the top 30 largest money managers, recognized for extensive capabilities across both public and private markets.
