AM Best Upgrades Unity Financial Life Insurance Credit Rating to BBB+

AM Best has upgraded the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of Unity Financial Life Insurance Company to “bbb+” from “bbb” and affirmed its Financial Strength Rating at B++. The outlook for the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating has been revised to stable from positive, reflecting an overall improvement in the company's financial position.

This upgrade is primarily driven by stronger balance sheet strength, which AM Best now assesses as strong due to increased surplus growth and a higher risk-adjusted capital metric, Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR). The termination of a reinsurance treaty supporting single premium immediate annuities (SPIA) sales in 2023 has allowed Unity to retain profitable business and strengthen its surplus capital.
