Acrisure Re Integrates Capital and Captives Division for Strategic Growth
Acrisure Re, the reinsurance division of the global fintech firm Acrisure, has announced the consolidation of its Capital and Captives division into its larger platform. This integration unites a network of over 275 captive experts throughout North America and Bermuda, creating a cohesive structure that merges an established captives business with the specialized skills of a reinsurance broker.
The new entity, named Acrisure Re Capital and Captives, will be helmed by Seth Denson, reporting directly to Simon Hedley, the Global CEO of Acrisure Re. The strategic move aims to enhance capabilities across three interconnected areas: reinsurance programs, corporate advisory services under Acrisure Re Corporate Advisory and Solutions, and the capital and captives domain.
Acrisure Re highlights that these offerings benefit from its global analytics and expertise in catastrophe modeling, creating a comprehensive platform that sets it apart from other reinsurance brokers. The integration is a strategic effort to drive future growth, leveraging an already strong presence in the United States and Bermuda.
The division's activities predominantly focus on the US Life and Health market, particularly alternative and self-insured medical plans, which constitute about 70% of its operations. The remaining 30% is dedicated to Property and Casualty, a sector identified by the company as an area with significant growth potential.
Expansion in Property and Casualty
Within the Property and Casualty sector, Acrisure Re plans to expand both group and single-parent captives. The division is poised to explore business opportunities, manage reinsurance placements, and facilitate transactions for its reinsurance partners. The integration of captive structuring with reinsurance origination offers a unique value proposition, setting Acrisure Re apart from traditional counterparts. Collaborations with issuing carriers are expected to enhance the delivery of comprehensive captive programs for clients pursuing self-insurance options.
Moreover, the division features an established segregated cell capability, allowing for adaptable and capital-efficient structures in both Life and Health and Property and Casualty lines. Such capabilities provide solutions tailored to clients' risk profiles and business goals.
Acrisure Re states that the Capital and Captives division delivers comprehensive services across the entire program lifecycle. This includes feasibility studies, program design, captive formation, licensing, regulatory coordination, continuous management, governance, actuarial support, and access to both reinsurance and capital markets. The broader Acrisure Re platform integration is intended to offer clients a seamless framework, combining structuring expertise and reinsurance placement capabilities.
Simon Hedley, Global CEO of Acrisure Re, remarked on the successful integration: "This move creates a compelling combination of Acrisure Re's platform, relationships, and reinsurance capabilities with the extensive expertise and proven success of our Capital and Captives division. We see substantial growth potential in the Property and Casualty sector and are poised to enhance our captive programs and improve flow for our reinsurance partners."
Seth Denson, leading the Captives division, also noted their strong position: "Our Life & Health captive business has established itself by addressing market needs that were previously unmet. This integration will allow us to further scale, extend our innovative approach to the Property & Casualty market, enhance relationships with key carriers, and develop bespoke insurance solutions across various captive structures."
