NFP Launches New Flood Practice to Enhance Personal Risk Coverage

NFP, a prominent property and casualty brokerage associated with Aon, has launched a new Flood Practice to better support Personal Risk clients. Dana Sutton, who has over 15 years of expertise in managing complex flood exposures nationwide, will lead this national initiative. This program enhances NFP's existing efforts in the Atlantic region, focusing on improved flood risk management.

Dana Sutton highlighted the frequent underestimation of flood risks by property owners, even those with existing property insurance. Sutton noted, “In our experience in the Atlantic region, people underestimate their flood risk. I'm proud to lead NFP's efforts to ensure our Personal Risk clients receive the coverage and support they need.” The Flood Practice aims to provide comprehensive solutions to help clients understand and alleviate their flood exposure.

The initiative will leverage various analytical tools, such as modeling data and historical flood statistics, alongside property-specific risk assessments. By comparing FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program with private insurance carriers, NFP will craft tailored insurance strategies. Brett Woodward, President of Personal Risk at NFP, stressed the importance of education and comprehensive coverage, saying, “Flood risk is misunderstood and underinsured, and clients often don't realize their true exposure. We aim to lead in client advocacy and risk education with the most comprehensive flood coverage available.”

NFP operates globally with support from Aon and offers services including property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, and retirement plan advisory. More resources can be found at nfp.com.
