In Pemberville, Ohio, heavy rainfall has led to unprecedented flooding, with the Portage River overflowing into residential areas, affecting numerous homes and properties. According to Mayor Carol Bailey, this flooding is the most severe in a century for the village and ranks as the second most significant in its history.

The rising waters have transformed front yards into temporary waterways. Residents like Jenna Maxon observed unusual activities such as kayaking in normally dry areas, noting, "Sometimes we get heavy rain and the kids can fish in the front yard, but not too often do they kayak."

While some homeowners have managed minor water intrusion, others face severe consequences. Alecia Sam described the urgency of addressing water incursion at her daughter's house, where water levels reached her ribs. Her family utilized a kayak to retrieve essential items and pets, focusing on pumping out water with several pumps to aid recovery.

Others are in dire situations, as Aldo Gomez explained, with about 18 inches of water flooding the main level of a relative's home, rendering it temporarily uninhabitable. Residents have sought assistance at the town hall, with local officials collaborating with the Red Cross and the Wood County Emergency Management Agency to support those affected. Mayor Bailey indicated that approximately 50 to 75 homes have been impacted.

Though the immediate threat has lessened due to receding water levels, ongoing concerns persist with forecasts predicting further rainfall.
