Sapiens to Acquire Candela to Boost Life Insurance Automation in APAC
Sapiens International, an Israel-based insurtech firm, has announced its agreement to acquire Candela, an intelligent automation service provider targeting insurance companies in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, for $22 million in cash. This acquisition aims to enhance Sapiens' life insurance product suite and broaden its market presence in APAC.
The transaction is expected to close in Q2 2025, pending standard closing conditions, with Candela fully owned by Sapiens upon completion. Candela reported non-GAAP revenues of $8 million in 2024 and serves 23 clients primarily across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and South Africa. The company operates mainly out of Bangalore, India, and is currently part of Azentio, headquartered in Singapore. Through this acquisition, Candela’s business process modeling and case management tools will be integrated into Sapiens' insurance platform, particularly enhancing their life insurance focus.
This integration anticipates replacing external legacy systems with standardized processes, thereby streamlining digital transformation efforts for insurers. Sapiens projects the acquisition to be profit accretive from Q4 2025. Earlier in the year, Sapiens also introduced an updated automated underwriting and new business case management system aimed at life and annuities insurers. This strategic move positions Sapiens to expand its comprehensive product offering and service capabilities across the insurance lifecycle, aligning with regional market demands and insurers’ digital innovation strategies.
