Life Insurers Launch $4M Ad Campaign Amid Republican Tax Cut Discussions
The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) has launched a $4 million advertising campaign highlighting the life insurance industry's economic contributions, including job creation and investment in U.S. corporate bonds. The ads are scheduled to run on Fox and Fox Business in the Washington D.C. area and through nationwide digital platforms during the spring and summer. This initiative coincides with Republican efforts to extend the 2017 tax cuts while considering offset measures that impact various industries, including life insurers.
ACLI's campaign aims to inform policymakers about the sector's alignment with economic growth goals as legislators prepare tax legislation. The association represents major insurers such as Prudential, MetLife, New York Life Insurance, Northwestern Mutual, and MassMutual. The 2017 tax reform law raised some taxes on life insurers despite providing an overall lower corporate tax rate, a nuanced outcome acknowledged by ACLI.
