Investigation of Structural Incident at Wedding in Tamworth, NH
In Tamworth, New Hampshire, a critical investigation is underway after a structural incident at The Preserve at Chocura injured several individuals during a wedding event. On Saturday around 4:30 p.m., the floor collapsed under the weight of over 100 attendees, resulting in six hospitalizations. Many guests fell into the basement and experienced being trapped, raising concerns about regulatory compliance and venue capacity management.
New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey and Tamworth Fire/Rescue Chief Richard Colcord reported that first aid and rescue efforts were immediately undertaken by venue staff and attendees. Firefighters arrived on the scene, offering additional support, evaluating injuries, and collaborating with mutual aid teams from nearby areas to ensure comprehensive care for all victims.
Emergency responders transported six adults to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries, and four have since been discharged. Initial evaluations suggest the floor failure may have been related to overcapacity limits in the Sap House building. Authorities have requested that those with relevant information contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office, as further details about the investigation will be disclosed as they become available.
