Swiss Re Appoints Bernhard Kaufmann as Group Chief Risk Officer in 2025
Swiss Re announced that Bernhard Kaufmann will become the group chief risk officer (CRO) starting October 1, 2025, succeeding Patrick Raaflaub. Kaufmann brings extensive experience with 17 years in senior risk roles at major reinsurance firms, including Helvetia, NN Group, and Munich Re Group, and holds a PhD in theoretical physics. Swiss Re’s chairman, Jacques de Vaucleroy, emphasized Kaufmann's capability to navigate evolving regulatory and risk environments. At the recent annual general meeting, de Vaucleroy was re-elected chairman with strong shareholder support, alongside other board members and compensation committee appointees.
