OPM Launches HR Shared Service Center to Modernize Federal HR Processes

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has launched its HR Shared Service Center to enhance human resources service delivery among federal agencies. This initiative aligns with the Federal HR 2.0 vision, aiming to modernize and streamline HR processes. By offering high-quality, cost-effective operations and strategic advisory services, OPM supports its efforts through a voluntary, fee-for-service model funded by the agency's revolving fund authority.

OPM Director Scott Kupor highlighted the significance of this initiative as a crucial step in optimizing operations and improving service delivery government-wide. He asserted that OPM's expertise and modern HR technology are pivotal in boosting efficiency in HR services. This effort underscores OPM's commitment to enhancing the quality of federal HR management.

The Shared Service Center will augment existing federal Shared Service Centers by merging strategic consulting with operational HR services. It offers a comprehensive array of services, such as benefits, staffing, onboarding, classification, and personnel action processing. Furthermore, it provides strategic offerings like workforce planning, human capital strategy, assessment services, and executive development.

Several federal agencies have already begun transitioning to the new center via interagency agreements. Agencies interested in utilizing these services can visit opm.gov/sharedservice or contact sharedservice@opm.gov for more details or to initiate the onboarding process.
