Camden County Man Sentenced for Insurance Fraud Involving Allstate Claims

A Camden County resident has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment for insurance fraud involving false claims to Allstate following the destruction of his home by fire. Richard Orlandini, aged 65, admitted guilt to the charges in December. The fraudulent activities began after his Cherry Hill residence was destroyed in an October 2018 fire. Orlandini was insured through Allstate and enlisted a public adjuster to assist with his claims. He falsely reported that neither he nor his wife knew the fire's cause, which he claimed started in a back room.

Investigations revealed that Orlandini's claims were untrue. He falsely claimed living expenses using a non-existent rental agreement and sought reimbursement for personal property items that neither perished in the fire nor were owned by him. These items included china, crystal, designer goods, and Lego sets. Authorities identified five misleading claims submitted by Orlandini to Allstate.

New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport emphasized the necessity of honesty within the insurance system. She noted that fraudulent claims compromise the integrity of protections policyholders rely on for safeguarding their investments in their homes.
