Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Graduation Enhances Public Safety

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy proudly announced the graduation of 45 firefighters from its intensive 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program. This cohort includes six new recruits from Berkshire County, significantly bolstering the region's emergency response capabilities. The academy's completion of this program underscores its commitment to enhancing public safety and risk management across Massachusetts.

However, despite these cuts, the district's seven municipalities might still encounter increased financial obligations due to elevated assessments, highlighting ongoing challenges in balancing educational funding and regulatory compliance requirements.

On the sports front, the Hoosac Valley basketball team, seeded eighth, made headlines with a remarkable victory over top-seeded Drury. Overcoming a nine-point deficit in the first half, the team clinched a 76-67 win during the Division 5 State Quarter-Finals. Drury's Delaney Hayden led the scoring effort with 18 points, while Megan McGrath and Ella Bond also contributed.
