FEMA Extends Deadline for Kentucky Storm Disaster Assistance to May 2025
Kentucky homeowners and renters impacted by the February severe storms, flooding, and straight-line winds can apply for federal disaster assistance through FEMA until May 25, 2025. This assistance includes rental aid, temporary housing, home repairs, personal property loss coverage, and other disaster-related needs not covered by insurance. FEMA grants do not require repayment, are nontaxable, and do not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid, or other federal benefits.
Applicants are urged to file insurance claims for any damages prior to applying for FEMA assistance, as FEMA Individual Assistance is designed to complement, not duplicate, insurance benefits or other aid sources. Applications can be submitted online, via the FEMA app, by phone, or in person at Disaster Recovery Centers, which provide accessibility services for applicants with disabilities or special needs.
