Prime Healthcare Foundation has completed its acquisition of Central Maine Healthcare, and two hospitals in Texas are considering a merger. Recent hospital mergers and acquisitions highlight the strategic moves to enhance healthcare delivery and optimize resources. Nacogdoches County Hospital District in Texas is in talks with Tenet Healthcare, based in Dallas, to merge Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital and Nacogdoches Medical Center. This merger seeks to combine resources under one management to better serve underserved communities. David Schaefer, the vice president of the hospital district’s board, emphasized the merger's potential in enhancing healthcare access by leveraging larger networks. The board will vote on this proposal on February 27.
Headquartered in Ontario, California, Prime Healthcare Foundation has successfully acquired Central Maine Healthcare. The acquisition includes Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital, Rumford Hospital, and over 40 physician practices, alongside educational and cancer care facilities. Existing employees will remain as Prime Healthcare commits $150 million over five years to bolster these facilities. Additionally, the Bristow Hospital Authority in Oklahoma has leased its operations to the Saint Francis Health System of Tulsa, marking another significant collaboration in regional healthcare operations.
