New Leadership at IIHS and HLDI: A Commitment to Insurance Innovation
Brian Deephouse has been appointed as the chair of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with his term starting in 2026. Deephouse, vice president and chief actuary at Auto Club Enterprises, succeeds Ginger Purgatorio from Allstate. Dawn Lee from PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company will continue chairing the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) board, a role she assumed in July.
Strategic Leadership Changes
The IIHS board will see several key leaders take new roles in 2026. Daniel Halsey, president of personal lines at The Hanover Insurance Group, is the chair elect. Andrew Woods, chief analytics officer of personal lines and distribution at Farmers Insurance Group, has been named vice chair. At HLDI, Robert Harrington from Erie Insurance Group will serve as vice chair, contributing to strategic risk management and regulatory compliance oversight.
Commitment to Safety and Industry Innovation
These leadership transitions aim to reinforce the organizations' dedication to safety and informed decision-making within the insurance industry. The boards work collaboratively to analyze vehicle safety data and insurance claims, impacting policy and underwriting decisions industry-wide. This approach ensures regulatory compliance and enhances payer and provider collaboration in an ever-evolving insurance landscape.
