Military Service Members Gain Access to Health Care FSAs
For the first time, uniformed military service members now have access to health care flexible spending accounts (HCFSA), a benefit previously available only to civilian federal employees. The enrollment period for this year runs from March 3rd to March 31st, with future enrollment opportunities linked to special life events or the annual federal benefits open season. Ronald Garner, assistant director for military compensation policy at the Defense Department, emphasizes the significance of this new benefit, especially for families of service members who may face unexpected health care expenses not covered by TRICARE.
