Mosaic Insurance Expands Tax-Risk Expertise in North America and UK
Mosaic Insurance has strategically expanded its tax-risk team by appointing four new specialists and promoting an existing team member. This expansion enhances its transactional tax-liability operations across North America and international markets. With this growth, the team now consists of nine specialists focused on addressing tax risks in mergers and acquisitions and standalone tax scenarios, safeguarding policyholders from potential financial losses during transactions.
Heather Eskey has been appointed as Senior Vice-President for North American tax risks. She brings extensive experience from leading Chubb’s transactional risk tax division and serving as a tax attorney for notable law and accounting firms. Eskey also held roles as corporate tax counsel at AIG, positioning her well within Mosaic's enhanced tax-risk operations.
Mosaic's New York office welcomes Caleb Smith as Vice-President within the tax-liability unit. Smith, who previously practiced as a tax attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, has a strong background in advising on U.S. and international tax implications of corporate activities. His prior public-policy roles in Washington, D.C., further bolster Mosaic’s capacity to address complex tax challenges.
Jon Hutchens, Mosaic's Global Head of Tax, Transactional Liability, underscored the rising demand for tax insurance in North America. He expressed confidence in the new team members, stating, "The market for tax insurance in North America continues to grow as taxpayers seek transactional certainty in uncertain times, positioning us well to meet current and future demand for solutions tailored to our policyholders’ needs."
Enhancing expertise further, Ze’ev Deutsch has been promoted to Senior Vice-President within the New York office. Having joined Mosaic in 2022, Deutsch’s experience from roles at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP focuses on U.S. and Canadian tax risk evaluation. Roktim Kaushik, previously a tax attorney with KPMG, now supports the New York team as Vice-President.
In the UK, Mosaic has strengthened its international tax underwriting group by appointing Byron Thomas as Senior Vice-President and Li Hong Gosen as Assistant Vice-President. Thomas, a barrister with experience from Themis Underwriting and EY, will oversee international tax operations. Gosen’s specialization in cross-border M&A tax structures, garnered during his time at KPMG and EY, adds depth to Mosaic's tax capabilities.
Bill Monat, Mosaic’s Global Head of Transactional Liability, highlighted the strategic growth of the global tax division. "Growth of our global tax business is a strategic priority for Mosaic as we further build our market-leading underwriting capabilities to meet demand in this growing sector." This expansion is supported by Mosaic’s global platform, including Lloyd’s syndicates and other insurance carriers, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening its global transactional liability offerings.
