Medicare Advantage Plans Increasingly Offer Dental Coverage

Original Medicare (parts A and B) does not cover routine dental care, leaving many beneficiaries without dental coverage. In 2019, nearly half of Medicare beneficiaries lacked dental insurance, and a significant percentage had not visited a dentist in over a year. This situation is slowly improving as more Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans include dental benefits, rising from 94% coverage in 2019 to 97% by 2024. While Medicare Part A and Part B may cover some dental-related procedures under specific circumstances, comprehensive dental care remains a challenge for many seniors.
