Delaware's Medicare Assistance Bureau Prepares for Open Enrollment
As the Medicare Open Enrollment period approaches, the Delaware Department of Insurance and its Medicare Assistance Bureau (DMAB) are releasing important consumer information for 2024. From October 15 to December 7, beneficiaries can change their Medicare plans, with support from DMAB, which provided 5,207 counseling sessions saving residents $3.8 million in 2023. Noteworthy changes for 2025 include a new Medicare Prescription Payment Plan to help manage out-of-pocket costs and a cap on Part D enrollees' expenses at $2,000. Officials emphasize the importance of being careful of contracting changes with health systems and encourage consumers to assess their options carefully during the enrollment period. DMAB offers free, one-on-one counseling to help seniors make informed decisions regarding their Medicare coverage.
