Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau Reminds Residents of Open Enrollment
The Delaware Department of Insurance’s Medicare Assistance Bureau (DMAB) is urging citizens to prepare for Medicare Open Enrollment, which occurs from October 15 to December 7. This period allows consumers to join, switch, or drop Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage Plans. In 2023, DMAB provided free counseling to residents, resulting in savings of $3.8 million. Significant updates include a new Medicare Prescription Payment Plan set to begin in 2025 that aims to cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 annually. Consumers are also advised to be vigilant about changes in local health provider contracts that may impact their access to coverages. Appointments for consultation are available statewide, and residents are encouraged to thoroughly review their options to meet their healthcare needs.
