Hamilton Re Appoints Dwayne Hunt as Head of Property Insurance

Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Dwayne Hunt as Senior Vice President, Head of Property Insurance at Hamilton Re, its Bermuda-based property insurance and reinsurance underwriting platform. Hunt brings three decades of industry experience with a track record in profitable underwriting and strong broker relations. He succeeds Gavin Davis, who is leaving after significantly contributing to diversifying Hamilton Re's portfolio over his ten-year tenure. Before joining Hamilton five years ago, Hunt held senior roles at Neon, ACE (now Chubb), and Arch, and started his career as a broker and underwriter at Johnson and Higgins and XL (now AXA XL). This leadership change underscores Hamilton Re’s strategy of fostering internal succession to support sustained growth in specialized insurance lines. Hamilton Insurance Group remains focused on global specialty and facultative underwriting, leveraging its three distinct platforms to maintain a diversified, profitable business profile. Effective property insurance leadership is critical in the evolving risk environment, with strong broker partnerships driving distribution and underwriting excellence. Hamilton Insurance Group, headquartered in Bermuda, operates globally across specialty insurance and reinsurance sectors. Its organizational structure emphasizes collaborative culture and nimble operations, factors highlighted by CEO Adrian Daws in relation to Hunt’s appointment. The company’s focus on strategic leadership appointments aligns with efforts to enhance operational effectiveness and market competitiveness.
