Clever Care Partners with Blue Zones Health to Enhance Culturally Competent Medicare Advantage Care

Clever Care Health Plan is launching a new partnership in 2026 with Blue Zones Health to support its culturally competent care model and enhance preventive care for its 40,000 Medicare Advantage members in Southern California. This collaboration connects members to a network of over 2,500 Blue Zones Health providers who emphasize lifestyle habits linked to longevity, such as daily physical activity, social engagement, low stress, and nutritious diets. Blue Zones Health bases its care model on research from regions around the world known for high centenarian populations, focusing on root causes of chronic disease through primary care providers who encourage lifestyle modifications within a close proximity to members' homes. This aligns with Clever Care's holistic and culturally tailored approach to whole person care. This partnership follows a growing trend among health insurers to integrate longevity and wellness concepts into plan offerings. For instance, Blue Shield of California introduced a digital program in 2024 that assesses members' longevity factors and tracks wellness activities for its nearly 5 million members. Clever Care intends to evaluate the partnership's impact by tracking Medicare star ratings and member satisfaction surveys, aiming for measurable quality improvements. The plan's existing network includes 30,000 providers and facilities, almost 2,000 bilingual physicians, 48 hospitals, and over 700 directly contracted acupuncturists, indicating strong provider diversity and access. These initiatives reflect a broader industry movement towards integrating social determinants of health, preventive care, and culturally sensitive models to improve member outcomes and satisfaction in Medicare Advantage populations.
