U.S. Launches Tech Force to Modernize Federal Government Technology

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), in collaboration with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), General Services Administration (GSA), and the White House Office of Science Technology and Policy (OSTP), has launched the United States Tech Force (Tech Force), a government-wide initiative to recruit top technologists to modernize federal technology infrastructure. This program is part of the administration's AI Action Plan to maintain the nation's leadership in artificial intelligence and advance technology modernization within federal agencies. Tech Force aims to deploy teams of engineers, data scientists, and technology leaders to address complex challenges across multiple government departments, including State, Treasury, Defense, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security, among others. Participants in Tech Force will receive world-class technical training in partnership with leading private-sector companies such as Adobe, Amazon Web Services, Apple, Google Public Sector, Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI, and others. This collaboration seeks to create a pipeline of skilled technologists equipped to lead critical projects at the intersection of public service and private sector innovation. Agency leaders are designated to empower tech talent and ensure alignment with mission-critical government priorities. The initiative reflects an unprecedented cross-government coordination effort involving key stakeholders including the Chief AI Officer, White House advisors for AI and Domestic Policy, and the National Science Foundation. The partnership with the NobleReach Foundation will further support recruitment by mobilizing talent across industry, academia, and government sectors. This approach highlights the federal government's commitment to addressing critical technology talent gaps and accelerating AI adoption. Tech Force is positioned as a strategic effort to bolster government capacity in technology modernization, infrastructure, and innovation. It aims to enhance government competitiveness and ability to deliver advanced digital services to American taxpayers. The program also offers participants significant career pathways bridging the public and private sectors.
