Arizona Wound Graft Company Owners Sentenced in $1.2B Medicare Fraud Scheme

In a landmark case, the owners of multiple wound graft companies in Arizona received substantial prison sentences for orchestrating over $1.2 billion in fraudulent claims submitted to Medicare and other health insurance programs. These claims involved medically unnecessary wound graft procedures, which were ordered under illegal kickback schemes targeting elderly and terminally ill patients. Alexandra Gehrke was sentenced to 15.5 years and Jeffrey King, her husband, to 14 years in prison for their roles in the scheme.
