2027 Medicare Advantage Proposal Expands Coverage to Include Select Hemp Products
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed a 2027 Medicare Advantage rule that expands coverage options to include certain hemp-derived products. Eligible products under this proposal include hulled hemp seed, hemp seed protein powder, and hemp seed oil that the FDA recognizes as safe. These would be available as special supplemental benefits for chronically ill Medicare Advantage enrollees, contingent on compliance with federal and state laws, including hemp definitions.
