Georgia Faces Insurance Premium Hikes if ACA Tax Credits Lapse

Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia emphasized the risk of significant insurance premium increases for over 1.4 million Georgia residents if Congress fails to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits before they expire at the end of December 2025. The subsidies are crucial for keeping insurance affordable for Marketplace buyers, with 95% of Georgia ACA Marketplace users relying on these credits. The expirations could also lead to a projected loss of 33,600 jobs in the state.
