Iowa Small Business Owner Advocates Repeal of ACA Mandates to Lower Insurance Costs
Marcie Strouse, a small business owner and consultant in Iowa, testified to the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions regarding the rising costs of employer-sponsored insurance premiums. She highlighted that premiums have increased over 120% since the early 2000s, while the number of insurers offering small group plans has decreased significantly. Strouse criticized certain Affordable Care Act mandates, arguing they contribute to higher costs, industry consolidation, and limited flexibility for small businesses.
