Survey Shows High Satisfaction with 2026 US Health Insurance Options Despite Cost Concerns
A recent survey conducted by eHealth on 1,508 Americans with private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid reveals that 77% of respondents are satisfied with their health insurance options for 2026. Satisfaction rates are highest among those with employer-sponsored plans (81%) and Medicare enrollees (86%). However, cost concerns persist, with 79% of ACA marketplace participants surprised by premium increases, and over half of all respondents were unexpectedly impacted by rising costs. The survey underscores an ongoing challenge of affordability amid rising premium prices driven by factors such as the expiration of enhanced ACA subsidies and increased healthcare demand. Many Americans (57%) anticipate that Congress will extend these ACA subsidies, a key factor influencing consumer confidence and decision-making. The survey also highlights positive consumer attitudes toward technological tools, with 56% expressing willingness to use AI-driven solutions to identify cost-effective health plans, particularly among ACA enrollees. Additionally, Medicare Advantage trends show an 8% rise in out-of-pocket maximums and a 2.8% decrease in deductibles, while maintaining stable average premiums. These findings are relevant to policymakers, insurers, and healthcare providers aiming to address affordability and access issues through policy adjustments and innovative plan designs.
