Educator and Former MetLife Employee Marguerite Paulo-Heyer Passes at 91
Marguerite Paulo-Heyer, a lifelong Staten Island resident and dedicated educator, passed away on October 6 at the age of 91. She began her career in the insurance industry as a switchboard operator for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Manhattan before dedicating herself to family life. In 1977, she returned to the workforce, focusing on education and student support through roles at nonprofit organizations and the New York City Department of Education. Paulo-Heyer earned degrees in education and psychology, highlighting her commitment to lifelong learning and supporting students with special needs. She served as a special education guidance counselor at Fort Hamilton High School for a decade before retiring in 2002. Beyond education, she engaged in real estate and community leadership activities, including membership in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, which promotes women educators. Faith was a central aspect of her life, maintaining active involvement in several local churches. Her life reflects a dedication to education, community service, and family, leaving a legacy through her contributions to the Staten Island educational community.
