DXC Powers ivari’s Cloud Transformation, Cutting Operating Costs by 22%
DXC Technology has successfully migrated ivari, a Canadian life insurer, from its legacy Ingenium policy administration system to the DXC Assure Platform hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This migration is part of a multi-year modernization program aimed at streamlining ivari's core systems to improve operational efficiency and enhance digital capabilities. The transition involved moving approximately 732,000 policies while processing about 4,500 new applications monthly without disrupting business operations. The cloud-based platform migration resulted in a 22% reduction in operating costs for ivari and facilitated the launch of four new life insurance products. The modernization effort leverages DXC's combined software and Business Process Services (BPS) model to deliver a scalable, resilient, and secure technology foundation that supports faster product innovation and improved customer and agent experiences. ivari manages around $96 million in annual premiums and processes nearly 65,000 applications annually, serving the mass market for individual life insurance in Canada. This strategic partnership with DXC, ongoing since 2019, encompasses new business operations, agency support, claims processing, and IT production assistance, emphasizing a full lifecycle approach to policy administration and digital transformation. Moving forward, DXC plans to convert ivari's remaining end-of-life surrounding framework systems to standardized DXC offerings. This progression aims to simplify ivari's technological environment, enhance data access for more informed decision-making, and support the insurer's growth trajectory. The continued modernization underscores the trend in the insurance sector toward cloud-enabled platforms that enable cost reduction, operational agility, and rapid product development. Key considerations for the insurance industry include verifying the durability of the reported cost savings beyond the initial migration phase, monitoring the throughput for new applications, and evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing system framework standardization. Transparency in these metrics will be critical for stakeholders assessing the long-term benefits and scalability of cloud migrations in life insurance policy administration. This case exemplifies how legacy insurers can modernize core systems through cloud transitions while maintaining service continuity and leveraging partnerships to drive digital innovation. DXC's leadership in combining software modernization with business process services provides a replicable model for insurers seeking to balance operational efficiency with customer-centric digital transformation.
