NFIB Urges Senate Action on Small Business Health Care Affordability
Health care affordability continues to challenge small businesses in the U.S., with rising premiums over 120% in the past two decades limiting operational growth. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) presented testimony to the U.S. Senate highlighting the urgent need for policy reforms to expand health plan options and reduce regulatory burdens for small business owners. Key proposed solutions include the Custom Health Option and Individual Care Expense (CHOICE) Act, which facilitates pre-tax contributions allowing employees to shop across private and Affordable Care Act marketplaces for suitable plans. Additionally, reforming and expanding Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) by eliminating contribution limits could provide further financial relief and preparedness for health expenses. NFIB encourages small business owners to share their experiences to bolster advocacy efforts aimed at health care system reform.
