Great American Expands Environmental Liability Coverage into Mexico
Great American Insurance Group’s Environmental Division is expanding its environmental liability insurance offerings into the Mexican market through a collaboration with the company’s División Daños México. This strategic partnership will enable the distribution of specialized insurance products designed to cover environmental risks related to pollution in Mexico. Starting in December 2025, División Daños México will offer Premises Environmental Liability coverage, followed by Contracting Services Environmental Liability in 2026, providing critical protection against bodily injury, property damage, legal costs, and pollution cleanup expenses associated with pollution incidents at covered sites. The Premises Environmental Liability policy targets a wide range of facilities including commercial real estate properties such as apartments, hotels, offices, and warehouses, offering protection tailored to environmental risks specific to different industries. The Contracting Services Environmental Liability policy addresses environmental exposures inherent in contracting services, supporting general contractors, construction managers, and specialty trade contractors with coverage against pollution-related liabilities. Underwritten by El Aguila, Compañía de Seguros, S.A. de C.V., rated “A-” (Excellent) by AM Best, these new policies enhance the existing portfolio of División Daños México, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the commercial environmental insurance sector. Great American’s Environmental Division, operational since 2008, brings extensive expertise in environmental risk management, offering customizable insurance solutions to diverse industries aiming to safeguard financial stability from environmental liabilities.
