Nebraska Treasurer Highlights $260M Returned via Unclaimed Property Program
Nebraska State Treasurer Joey Spellerberg is encouraging residents to check for unclaimed property as the state nears the end of another year. The Nebraska Unclaimed Property Program has returned about $260 million to owners since its inception, recovering various assets such as utility refunds and stock accounts. State law mandates companies to transfer dormant assets to the Treasurer’s Office, which holds them until claimed by rightful owners or heirs.
